The National Crisis Continuum Conference took place on October 15th & 16th, 2024, at the Arizona Resort & Spa in Phoenix. This is a convening of behavioral health professionals across the country, and is hosted by the Crisis Residential Association and the International Council for Helplines, two nonprofit organizations representing providers in suicide prevention and crisis care.
The goals for ~800 attendees was to have a good time, leave energized and excited, and be a ‘refuge’ for people – to be surrounded by others who know what it’s like to do the work. Participants were crisis providers applicable to health plans, advocates, people with lived experiences, and county/city administrators.
Working live in real time, I combined digital projected drawings on my iPad with analog work using magic markers to visually capture more than 11 educational, powerful, and often emotionally moving sessions that included keynotes, plenaries, TED Talks, a Pecha Kucha, and breakout sessions – over two days.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to honor the information presented, and to help bring the topics to life.
